"Hesed" is a Hebrew term meaning: love in action, kindness, compassion, intervening on behalf of another. It's exactly what I believe I have been called to do as a health care provider. At Hesed, our mission is to revolutionize healthcare by providing direct, personalized, accessible, and affordable direct primary care. Hesed is committed to fostering strong relationships, prioritizing preventive care, and ensuring timely access to high-quality medical services. Through a direct primary care model, we eliminate barriers to care, enabling our patients to achieve optimal health and wellness.
Outside of her professional calling, she enjoys swimming, gardening, spending time with her Boston Terrier, and hosting cookouts with her spouse of 20 years. She joined Hesed Ministries to help build a foundation rooted in God, community, healthcare, and education — values she calls the four walls of lasting impact.
With her extensive background in medicine, nursing, and education, Dr. Sarah Cannon continues to shape the future of healthcare — not only by advancing clinical excellence, but by creating pathways of hope and opportunity for vulnerable populations around the world.
Dr. Cannon is a dedicated healthcare leader, clinician, and educator with more than 25 years of nursing and medical experience. She combines a strong clinical background with a passion for education, holding dual master’s degrees in Nursing Education and Family Practice, advanced certifications in multiple specialties, and is on track to earn her M.D. in January 2026.
Dr. Cannon is passionate about serving the most vulnerable, and she believes patients are empowered when they are educated about their health. As President of Education at Hesed Ministries, Inc., she directs provider and community education initiatives that strengthen confidence, improve outcomes, and expand access to care. Her long-term vision is to help Hesed Ministries reach its full potential — building health education clinics in impoverished areas and training young adults in the health professions so they can serve their own communities and lift their families out of poverty.
She also designs and teaches certification courses in ACLS, BLS, PALS, Heartsaver, IV therapy, and EKG, bridging clinical practice with education in ways that create lasting impact. Her work extends beyond training providers — she actively engages with community partners, donors, and volunteers to ensure every program meets real needs and reflects Hesed’s mission of love in action.
Dr. Cannon is also a published author, contributing to a McGraw-Hill cardiovascular textbook and peer-reviewed research on the therapeutic effects of laughter in medicine. Throughout her career, she has consistently mentored future healthcare professionals and aligned education with compassionate service.

Combined with her broad training in family practice, this background allows her to offer skilled, compassionate care for patients of every age and stage.
Her clinical philosophy blends evidence-based medicine with holistic, patient-centered approaches, with a focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of health concerns rather than just managing symptoms. While Direct Primary Care (DPC) doesn’t replace insurance or Medicare, it can complement them. Your monthly DPC fee covers all primary care services, and you can still use your insurance or Medicare for specialist care, hospitalizations, or any services not covered by the DPC plan. This combination can offer more comprehensive care while reducing out-of-pocket expenses. *It is important to note that this provider has opted out of Medicare & can not be listed as your PCP for managed care purposes.
DPC offers benefits such as no co-pays or deductibles, more time with your provider, and easier access through direct communication methods like phone or text. This model allows for more personalized care and often results in better health outcomes due to the enhanced provider-patient relationship.
A DPC plan usually covers a wide range of services, including routine and acute office visits, preventive care, chronic disease management. Some DPC practices may also offer discounted rates on medications, imaging, and additional lab work, making it a cost-effective option for routine healthcare.
Yes! We love our pediatric patients. Sarah Rousos completed a sub-specialty rotation in Pediatrics and also worked at a Children’s Hospital where she got experience caring for children of all ages. She’s also a mom herself. At Hesed Healthcare, we are comfortable treating children age 6+ as we feel newborns and toddlers benefit from the care of a Pediatrician. We do not provide in-house vaccinations for our pediatric patients but we do support parents’ choice to make their own decisions about vaccines and we are happy to advise our families on where they can obtain childhood immunizations.
FDA-approved GLP-1 and Combo GLP-1/GIP medications have been shown to significantly aid in weight loss by reducing appetite and enhancing metabolic function. However, they are typically prescribed for individuals with a BMI of 27 or higher or those with weight-related health conditions. A healthcare provider will determine if these treatments are suitable for you based on your health profile.
The process begins with a comprehensive medical evaluation, including a discussion of your health history, weight loss goals, and any potential contraindications. If you’re a good candidate, the provider will prescribe one of the injectable medication options and monitor your progress regularly, adjusting the dosage as needed to ensure safe and effective weight loss.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation, which often subside as your body adjusts to the medication. It’s important to communicate with your healthcare provider about any side effects you experience, as they can adjust your treatment plan to minimize discomfort.
Symptoms like low energy, reduced libido, muscle weakness, and mood changes can indicate low testosterone levels. A blood test will confirm if TRT is necessary. Benefits of TRT include improved energy levels, increased muscle mass, enhanced mood, and better sexual health.
Potential risks of TRT include increased red blood cell count, sleep apnea, and prostate health issues. Side effects may include acne, fluid retention, or mood swings. Regular monitoring by your healthcare provider helps manage these risks and ensures that the therapy is safe and effective for you.
Most men start to notice improvements in energy levels and mood within a few weeks of starting TRT. Muscle mass and libido typically improve over several months. Regular follow-ups with your healthcare provider will help track your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment.
Your DPC membership at Hesed Healthcare includes easy, barrier-free access to your healthcare provider, same-day or next-day appointments, routine check-ups, chronic disease management, preventative care, and more. Our goal is to provide you with comprehensive care that meets your unique health needs without the barriers of traditional insurance-based models.
